favorite this post Senator Al Franken Said Calling Warren "Pocahontas" is Racist (The Verandahs) hide this posting unhide

Is it?
I'm confused. Elizabeth Warren got ahead originally by lying and claiming to be Cherokee. She isn't and no longer claims to be. Instead there's some sort of family "legend". Not to mention the cheekbones.
Political opponents have called out Warren's exploitation of a fake minority status by mocking her as "Fauxhontas".or "Pocahontas". Senator Franken (D-SNL) has claimed that calling her that is racist.
Last week, Trump told Democratic senators that "Pocahontas is now the face of your party."
CNN host Jake Tapper asked Franken on Sunday what he thought of Trump's statement.
"I would have said something," Franken said.
Tapper asked him what he would have said.
"'Mr. President, with all due respect that's racist. Please stop doing that,'" Franken said. "'I'm on Indian Affairs, this is completely unacceptable, you really should stop doing this. It doesn't serve anybody,' something like that."
Something like that.
But listen to Franken.  He's on Indian Affairs or he's having an affair with Elizabeth Warren. Or something.
But is it more racist to fake Indian status for advantage or to call it out?
