For sale are two vintage metal tool boxes. One box is Tote All model, and the other is a Powr Kraft flip top box. Both are in what I would call heavily used condition. The Tote All has dents and scratches throughout, and has big, bold yellow advertising saying the company name on the side; the Powr Kraft has surface rust on the inside. Both are in good overall structural shape, though, and the Powr Kraft could be sealed or painted inside and used fine as is. Both boxes for $30; $15 a piece (but will not separate). I was able to find both boxes currently for sale on etsy- the Tote All is $43.50, the Powr Kraft is $68.80. So, over $110 in retro tool boxes for just $30. Dimensions of the Tote All are 18 inches long by 9 inches tall by 6 inches wide; the Powr Kraft measures 19 inches long by 7 by 7. Below is information about each. . Thank you!
Tote All- This very cool red metal tool carrier has many uses beyond carrying tools. Use it for cleaning supplies, craft supplies or to hold mail and other documents. Place three herb pots inside for a great windowsill herb garden!
In addition to being multi-purpose, this tool carrier is a great piece of Chicago history. Made by Simonsen in Chicago, "Tote-All" is printed on the front in large yellow letters along with "Simonsen Chicago, IL". The company founder, Edward H. Simonsen was born in Racine, Wisconsin, in 1891, the son of Danish immigrants. He moved to Chicago in his youth and got a job at the R.M. Eddy Brass Foundry after World War I. He founded Simonsen Metals and through the 1940s and '50s on through Edward's death in 1966, His company was a leading national name in quality toolboxes and tackle boxes, with some side work in industrial storage cabinets and film containers.
