Successful public art metal artist offering a sculpture studio apprenticeship to a qualified metal worker/ artist. The apprenticeship is an opportunity to share my studio, materials, process, and knowledge in exchange for work. I am looking for someone motivated and hard working. The apprenticeship is an opportunity to learn how to sustain a lifestyle in art.
OBLIGATIONS As an apprentice, I ask for modest work trade per week in my personal studio. Typical duties might include welding, grinding, cutting metal, finishing, driving a forklift, and loading pieces for transport. Duties vary according to the needs of the project being worked on.
FACILITIES The studio is equipped with MIG and TIG welders, forklift, anvils, pipe bender, hand tools and power tools. Apprentices are entitled to use all the equipment after passing basic safety protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS
Have a basic understanding of metal fabrication and MIG welding
Be physically fit and able to lift moderately heavy objects
Have your own personal safety equipment, goggles, earmuffs, gloves, etc
Living in St Petersburg close to the studio is a plus. We are located at 20th Street North, St Pete
Be flexible and available to work on a variable schedule
Have a valid driver's license and be able to go on installations throughout Florida
