Painting entitled “Collection” Pastel on sanded surface, image 21 7/8” by 27 3/4”, framed 30” x 36” Image was drawn from life from a composition of objects and patterns of special significance. Brooke Allison is a pastel and oil painter. She has exhibited widely throughout the United States including nine competitions in New York City. She is a signature (professional) member of the Pastel Society of America, the Pastel Society of the West Coast- California, the Midwest Pastel Society, the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, New York, N.Y., and the Florida Artists Group.
She is the recipient of the Bronze Medal for Pastel/Graphics at the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Exhibition at the National Arts Club in NYC in 1993 and the American Artist Award for painting in 1994. She also received the Award of Distinction from the Midwest Pastel Society in1995 and the Grumbacher Medal and the Marbo Barnard Award from the Pastel Society of the West Coast. She is the 1991 and 1999 recipient of the Pinellas Artist’s Resource Grant. She received her education from the Art Institute of Chicago and the American Academy of Art and has studied with Albert Handell psa, Lynn Davison and Burt Silverman NA.
An article on her pastel paintings appeared in the June 1998 issue of the Artists’ Magazine and her painting “Old English” appeared in Carole Katchen’s new book, 200 Great Painting Ideas. North Light Books February 1998. Two of Brooke’s oil paintings from the series, Kate: Changing the Pose, were exhibited at the Tampa Museum of Art, May through August, 1997 and the Jacksonville Museum of Art, April/May, 1998.
Brooke is listed in Who’s Who in the South and Southwest 1999-2000 and Who’s Who in America 2000. She teaches pastel, portraiture and independent study at the Dunedin Fine Art Center in Dunedin, FI.
