Electrician here to replace your knob and tube wiring in your home

Knob and Tube wiring was the first method of electricity in homes installed up until about the late 1940's until the method of cloth (now plastic) romex wiring was introduced.

Knob and Tube is now very dangerous to have in your home. If you have a home inspection, every home inspector will fail this and require you to remove it and replace it with new romex wiring. Most insurance companies wont insure a home with knob and tube wiring or charge extremely high premiums

All junction points of electrical connections have to be made within a junction box that is always available to access. They can not be buried within a wall or ceiling. Knob and tube wiring did not use junction boxes but just made the splices within the walls and attic, soldered then wrapped in tape. Over time this tape has deteriorated and the solder joints come loose. Loose connections cause and arc that can get up to 10,000 degrees F and shoot sparks catching insulation or anything flammable in your home on fire or over heat and start fire.

If you know you have knob and tube wiring in your home, you should have it replaced. Dont just take my word for it, do your research and you will find how potentially dangerous it is.

If you have an inspection and they require you to have it removed, Please feel free to call me. I can give you an estimate on removing and replacing the knob and tube or completely rewiring your home if knob and tube runs throughout your entire home.

The minimum charge is to cover my fuel and travel time where most jobs vary within 20+miles of each other. I work everywhere from North West Hernando to South St Pete to Lakeland, and everywhere in between.
4 hours or more = $39 per hour 2-4 hours = $45 per hour Service call $75 for up to 1 hour
I can estimate and price job upfront or work hourly, it is up to you.
Hourly jobs will consist from the time I arrive to your home until job completion with allowance of 1 trip to supply house to pick up material
Most jobs I will bring common materials in my truck and may not have to go to supply house.

There's a guy traveling around who is unlicensed, pretending to be in dire situation with a family, verbally says everything that makes sense about home repair work, will claim in his ad that he will never take up front money, will say he's trustworthy, make it seem as if he will start the work but beforehand will make you feel like you owe him up front money and make up some excuse that he needs to buy more things and could get you a deal if he buys it way across town but needs up front cash in order to pay for the inexpensive paint, carpet, and so on. Then he will make it seem as if he's working on the project by calling you every two-three hours with updates, after you want to "see" his progress he will disappear after you see that none of the paint cans have been opened and no work has been done. He dissappeared with cash in had plus a check. He neglected to return my calls after attempting to call him over the course of not one but "two" days of calling him all day. The last time I spoke with him he said all the walls and trim all over the house had been painted and that he was ready to order the carpet. I trusted his word. He said everything would be done by Friday so I could start showing my property this weekend and have it rented by the 1st of Dec. After I went over to view the property, the walls and trim have not been painted and the paint that's supposed to go on the walls haven't even been opened yet. DO NOT GIVE UP FRONT MONEY TO ANYONE. If they claim they can get it cheaper at some place way across town, then you should go with him and pay for the paint, carpet, etc. first hand. Also, do not give out your keys to anyone. Make sure you let them know that "YOU" will have to let him in and out of the house while he's working on the renovation work because he left my door unlocked and has copies of the keys to my property. I had to get the locks changed just in case. Your best bet would be to avoid all this and deal with a licensed professional.
