What do you want from an Open Jam? (Tampa)

I host one of the open jams going on in the Tampa area. Monday night, Brass Mug. Open Jam Sandwich (OJS)

I would like to know how to make this open jam better. What do you want from an open jam?

Different music?
Workshops from soloing, slap/pop bass, odd timed meters?
Cover songs?
Drink specials?

We're trying to create an open jam that people will go to week after week. Any suggestions?
Let me know what it takes to get you guys out to our open jam.

Singer seeking musicians for a 70's 80's soft rock project (Largo)

First off, just a foreword to say that I've recently put together a Styx tribute band, Pieces of Eight. I'm working with several talented musicians in the area. This has been a dream of mine for years now and its slowly but surely progressing in the right direction. I'm very committed to this project, but with it being a tribute, it has its limitations in regards to the amount of shows we will do. With that in mind, I'd like to stay busy with another artistic outlet.
I'm 40, a lead singer that's relatively new to the area.
I'm looking to find some musicians to get together and perform some of my old favorite classic soft rock/love songs from the late 70's to early-mid 80's.
I'd like to get together at least once each week to practice.
I'd also like this to be based out of the Clearwater/St. Pete area but will consider Tampa and other areas.
Just for fun but if some gigs were to emerge from it, that's fine too.
I would love to give these old classics a new voice to a live audience.
I'm open to playing just about anywhere. I realize our options may be limited due to this very mellow genre of music.
I've always loved this incredible era of music and am very passionate about these groups and artists when it comes to performing their songs.
If you're interested in this, I'm sure you will feel the same way.
The good news is that we will be unique, because for the most part, no one is playing the songs I've selected by these groups.
Hoping to find some musicians with a genuine love for these amazing artists and era.

Here's a list of some of the artists/bands I'd like us to try to perform.
Many of these had just a hit or two, but still were really great songs.
I'm also open to other ideas, such as making this project just a duo, trio or acoustic/unplugged.
If you know of someone that might be interested in this, please pass it along. Thanks.

I'll start off the list with the legendary Little River Band (take it easy on me, lonesome loser, lady, night owls, reminiscing), Ambrosia (how much I feel, biggest part of me), Toto (99), Supertramp (logical song, goodbye stranger), Hall & Oates (kiss on my list, one on one, I can't go for that), Bread (baby I'm a want you, goodbye girl), Dan Fogelberg (longer, heart hotels, missing you), Bruce Hornsby (mandolin rain), Kenny Loggins (heart to heart), Ace with Paul Carrack (how long), Orleans (dance with me), Poco (crazy love), Pablo Cruise (love will find a way), Paul Davis (I go crazy, cool night), Starship (sara), Air Supply (any of theirs), Billy Joel (any of his), Elton John (empty garden, little jeannie), Commodores (sail on), Boz Scaggs (look what you've done to me, we're all alone), Player (baby come back), Alan Parsons Project (eye in the sky, games people play), Andrew Gold (lonely boy), Leo Sayer (you make me feel like dancin'), Stephen Bishop (on and on), Richard Marx (hold on to the nights), Sheriff (when I'm with you), Tears for Fears (head over heels), Mike & the Mechanics (all I need is a miracle, silent running), Loverboy (turn me loose), Survivor (high on you), Fleetwood Mac (you make lovin' fun, say you love me), Christopher Cross (never be the same), Eagles (I can't tell you why), Cliff Richard (we don't talk anymore), Andy Gibb (don't throw it all away, (love is) thicker than water), Raydio (you can't change that), REO Speedwagon (take it on the run), Greg Guidry (goin' down - for the last time), Climax Blues Band (I love you).

Most of my experience is in Metal/ Hardcore / Punk but I can play anything. I got out of the scene about 3 years ago after moving across country and its been killing me ever since. I still have all my equipment, i have a DW set and all zildjan Z custom or A custom cymbals. Im looking for a group of people that can have a good time, make some killer music, and make the crowd move! Hit me up, im open for possibilities and styles.

We're an old-school-meets-new-school thrash/speed metal band based out of the USF area looking for a new drummer. Our major influences include (but are in no way limited to) Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Megadeth, King Diamond, Sanctuary, early Queensryche, Helloween, Annihilator, Savatage, Iced Earth, Lich King, 3 Inches of Blood, early Slayer, and early Pantera. Ability to play double bass at around 150 BPM would be preferred. All members are full-time students at USF, so this is currently looking to be a part-time gig with the potential to become bigger in the future. So if you're interested in cranking out some speed metal with us, ship us an email and let's melt some faces!

In our home state Bluegrass musicians would gather around each others houses or businesses and "jam" for a couple of hours just for fun.
It was like magic....
We have now moved to Florida and have a small business. Wondering if any of you are interested in coming on out for a jam session?
Mom and Pop shop, can not pay. We just sell pies, Italian ice, and hot dogs.
But a pretty good sized parking lot to BYO patio chairs, instruments, vocals.....and jam.
Would have to schedule for a Sunday.....so the other two businesses in the building would be closed.
Any ideas? We are open 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
No liquior please.

Hello,
We are a happening Christian band with a lot of upcoming projects. We are currently recording a contemporary Christian album to sell at a touring schedule of upcoming revivals in the area. We need a good drummer, no beginners please. Our band leader is a keyboardist and multi-instumentalist, but we want another keyboardist to help us capture our giant sound live. We will get paid once on the circuit, but we will need you to practice and record in the studio with us until then. We are looking for loyalty and musician's who love to play and write music for the Lord. You can check out Rev. Curtis Lynn's tracks at www.myspace.com/actsofgensis or www.reverbnation.com/actsofgenesis. These songs do not necessarily represent the contemporary material we are currently recording, but are songs that have established us as an up and coming Christian band in the area. Please e-mail us your questions or information and we will be in touch as soon as possible. Thank you and God bless!!

Hey I'm the Minister of Music at my church. I currently play the keyboards and have an ok drummer. But I'm looking to expand this ministry more. I really want to just sing w/o playing the keyboard. So here's a little info about the church. We are a smaller congregation less than 50 people... We are pentecostal denomination, but we don't let that separate us from the rest of the body of Christ. We cant afford to pay anyone right now, even I don't get paid and I'm the Pastor's son lol. We do have equipment but if you want to bring yours it's ok (not the drumset. I have a well put together set.). We are also planning on buying new equipment now. Praise and worship service is one of the most important elements in our church, it so many different things that takes place during that time or service. I'm in search of a well capable keyboard player. Someone who is fluent and knows how to flow with the spirit as well as me. the same for the drummer.. We play different styles of praise and worship from traditional congregational songs, to Christian songs, to Black Gospel, Contemporary.. i.e.( Tye Tribbet, Fred Hammond, Israel Houghton, William Murphy, Winans, John P. Kee, Johnathan Nelson, Byron Cage..ect.) We have services on Tuesday 7:30pm Thursday 7:30pm and Sunday School @ 10:00am and Sunday Morning Worship at 11:30am. I encourage you to come out and see what the Lord is doing here, even if you don't want to stay just visit. Oh by the way if anyone is looking to Jam, or have a shed session just let me know!

I'm looking for some laid back people to jam with. To start it would be a way for me to blow off some steam. I run a karaoke show on Monday nights up at Molly Malone's in N.P.R. So, I have all my own equipment. I have a peavey powered mixer and a couple of 15" peavey cabinets. I'm not in any kind of a rush to play out. But, I wouldn't mind it if we get good enough. I love singing all types of music including country (so don't even bother contacting me if you don't). I am however burnt out on classic / southern rock. As I said at first it would be just a casual thing after awhile it could be more. The one thing I need to mention is that all my lyrics are on my laptop because I do have a problem remembering lyrics. This is not because I'm lazy and don't apply myself. It's just been a problem since I was a kid. So send me an e-mail and I'll send ya my # so we can discuss this further. Thanks, Stephen

Bass player looking to start/join rock/punk/ new wave band (Tampa)

My name is Gerry and I am a bass, guitar and synth player. I’m looking to start or join a rock/punk/new wave project, playing the bass guitar. I have experience playing in several bands in both Tampa and Seattle. I have been playing for over ten years and have a style very similar to Simon Gallup of The Cure and Joel Peterson of The Faint. I come from a punk rock background too so I can play very fast if needed. I play melodic, arpeggiated bass lines that both keep the groove of the music and also provide a varied melodic texture. I’m looking to be in a serious project that has intentions on writing, recording, playing live, and hopefully doing music full time one day. I have several albums of my own that I have recorded. If you would like to hear some of my stuff to get a feel for my capabilities and overall knack for composition then please email me. If you have recordings of your own that would help me understand what you are going for. I have my own gear and transportation. I do not want to start a grunge band or anything influenced by current “radio rock” (i.e. Paramore, My Chemical Romance etc).

I will be honest, I have played in many bands with a lot of pretentious people and it really makes being successful hard. I’m looking for focused and dedicated people to work with. Being friends is necessary to survive in a band, it can’t be business alone. I do not use drugs, but drink occasionally. I’m big into anything horror related and enjoy “dark stuff” so if you share a passion for horror in culture and entertainment that’s a big plus. Not necessary though. If all of this sounds good, then please contact me and hopefully we can start something original and exciting.

Some of my diverse influences include:

Type O Negative, Depeche Mode, The Cramps, Duran Duran, Ramones, Dog Fashion Disco, Tub Ring, Mr. Bungle, Supersuckers, KMFDM, Slayer, Ministry, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Deadsy, Skinny Puppy, Naked Raygun, Orgy, Misfits, Blitzkid, Reverend Horton Heat, Covenant, The Faint, The Cure, Electric Six, etc.
Looking to do covers from the likes of (in no specific order): Motley Crue, Ozzy, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Poison, Def Leppard, GnR, Skid Row, Twisted Sister, Dokken, Dio, Bon Jovi, Queensryche, Cinderella, etc. (Basically anything on VH1 Classic’s Metal Mania).
Electric Violin Help - Good Effects Pedals/Units? Yamaha EV-204 (Tampa)

Hi, thanks for checking out my post. I've been playing violin for over 14 years and bought a Yamaha Ev-204 a little while back. I played in a metal band for a bit and ran it through a Line 6 Pod effects unit, but it was really difficult to program effects that worked with each other with the frequencies my violin emits. I'm in another very heavy band and looking for something (or various pedals) that'll give me good overdrive/distortion, looping capabilities, a good EQ, delay, and, most importantly, an octavizer (sp?) or tune shifter. I've seen some stuff out there that'll voice notes down an octave or two, which would really help me make the sound more heavy instead of whiny, and getting something that could layer sounds (either through looping or an effect that emits harmonies) could make me potentially sound like multiple instruments/a backup, distorted string quartet - which would be f'ing sickk. BUT I don't know if any of this stuff works with an electric violin and would LOVE to hear any advice or personal experience on the matter before I go out and buy something, return it, buy something else, return it, etc...

Also, while I'm at it, anyone wanna trade a Yamaha ev-204 (still under warranty) for a NS-Design? We'll obviously negotiate the price difference, but it's my dream violin. Can't hurt to try :)

Thank you!

Trying to form ambient/electronic/live instrument band

Hi, thanks for taking a look at this post. My name is Andy, I'm 26, and I'm currently a worship leader for New Purpose Community Church in Palm Harbor, FL. I love every minute of it, but lately I've been getting the urge to go start something more in addition to that. I just released an album ("Our Smile"...go check it out at http://www.andymage.com or on iTunes) of mostly original worship-style tunes; I'd like to delve a bit farther into it, however. I'm a big fan of bands like Paper Route (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_s7ni-Z6-mo or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UutwvZjU1sE), MuteMath, Athlete, and the like...bands that use Reason, Ableton Live, Fruity Loops, sampling, and live instruments all together to create amazing soundscapes, all while delivering poignant lyrics.

I think that a Christian band that put all of those elements together could create a very unique worship experience. I'm not saying that we would totally be leading worship, as I'd like to play out at clubs, bars, and places like that, but I feel called to fully give God the glory in everything that we do. I would like us to be able to lead worship, as well, especially since that's also a passion of mine; I think it would be a joy to be able to give back the the church (not only my home church, but the Church as a whole), while at the same time spreading the message of hope and love.

I've been delving more and more in Reason lately (I used it a bunch on "Our Smile", as you can hear), but I'd like to fully create an ambient/indie/rock/electronic band and get this going. Shoot me an e-mail or leave a message on my website; it doesn't matter what you play or how much programming you know right now. Let's get the pieces organized and see what we can do.

Looking for another guitar player, vocalist, bassist, and drummer. Age 18-25

The project currently consists of myself and a pianist, both trained fluent in theory, have a very wide range of influences, serious about our music, experimental. The sound will most likely be somewhat metal, nothing extremely hardcore but if you have any hesitations about heavy music do not apply.

This is something very specific and we are very dedicated people.

In a guitar player im looking for someone who at least knows simple theory with someone heavy influences.
In a bassist someone who at least knows the notes on the fret board.
Vocals is too hard to just ask id so anyone apply and id love to talk to everyone :].
Drummer id like someone you can play technically; knows how to change up timings, experimental with techniques and alternative sounds, double bass is great.

Im not going to write out a big paragraph about what im looking for. Sound ranges drastically very experimental. Very technical. If you have problems going a little heavy do not reply.

We are looking for dedicated professional people. Even if your a guy who isnt amazing at all. All i ask if that you have the time to work on things often.

Send me any info you have favorite bands, examples of your work, favorite bands, myspaces or facebooks if you have or at least a photo of yourself so i know youre actually you.

This might be a bit of a vague add but id like to get in touch with alot of musicians and find the one that fits in perfectly with our vision so please provide as much information as you can :].

Thank you for your time i hope we can find what we are looking for.

Hey my names Brad, Im 17, I have my own kit and Ive been playing for about 5 years now. The style that I play best is punk rock, but Im looking to play something more alternative, maybe like a mix of Against Me! and The Bouncing Souls (http://www.myspace.com/againstme http://www.myspace.com/bouncingsouls). Id like to be able to make a living off of playing music, that being said, I hosnestly dont care for being a "rockstar", but it would still be nice to get paid decently for the work that gets done. Id be in it for the long haul, music is my passion and its all I want to do. I learn pretty quickly, and can get stuff done when needed. most of all I still wanna have fun, but at the same time be serious and go somewhere with it.

Bad Magistrate is auditioning drummers! (Sarasota - Tampa / St. Pete)

Bad Magistrate is now auditioning drummers! Due to school and work commitments, our full time drummer has to move on, but we are hitting the Tampa area as hard as possible and have no intention of slowing down. We are currently using an excellent professional fill-in, so as not to lose any steam. Are you the right person for the job?

Who we are: The band line-up consists of Lead Vocals/Piano, Lead Guitar, Bass, and Keyboards/Rhythm Guitar. We are an all-original rock and roll band, with huge catchy hooks, guitar solos in all the right places, and energy in spades. We are extremely dedicated. We have only the best equipment (Les Pauls, full backline of Ampegs and vintage Marshall stacks). We have a killer, steady rehearsal space in Sarasota with a full PA and monitors. We only play serious venues, such as The State Theatre, The Orpheum, The Ritz Ybor, Gasoline Alley, etc…Our debut album is already finished, and available on vinyl. You can hear some tracks from the release at our myspace page.

www.myspace.com/badmagistrate

As you can tell, we are highly influenced by 70’s and early 80’s rock.

What we are looking for: Solid meter, single kick player, and a sick maniac on stage. Singing ability is a plus, but not a make or break thing. You must have reliable transportation, be able to rehearse at least twice a week, be dependable, and dedicated. Please, no drunks or drug addicts. This is not a party situation, and there is no drinking at rehearsal or at shows. We are looking for someone in the 20 to 30 range, no exceptions. There are a lot of talented guys out there in their late 30’s, 40’s and 50’s, but we are not in that age group. We don’t care if you are a male or female, so long as you can bring the house down behind the drums. We do happen to own a vintage 70’s Rogers set that you are welcome to use. Just bring your cymbals and necessary hardware.

We are looking forward to seeing who is out there!

Bad Magistrate
Does not need to be a serious situation, but would consider some duo gigs in the future if the market is out there. I also have a day job and family so I am definitely not looking for anything full-time. I have great gear, great attitude. My influences include Hedges, Manring, Pastorious, Levin, John Paul Jones, Page, Jack Bruce, Ament and more. Would love to play New Age style acoustic insturmental (some vocal) music in the style of Michael Hedges, Abercrombie, Andress and many more. I play fretted, fretless, 8 string and acoustic guitar. I can also sing when needed. If interested, please call Todd 727-656-3015 or email me. Thanks.

Looking for any/all musicians for an indie/jam project (USF)

I have been looking for some new musicians to Jam with and maybe start playing out with. I have been playing guitar for about 10 years and am looking for anyone who plays guitar, bass, drums, keys, or anything else that would be interested in putting something together sometime. Im looking to start a project that incorporates improvisation in the songs. Im also looking for people who are willing to be creative in new ways and are open to experimental methods of writing/recording music. I'm looking to mostly just in this for the fun of writing music and playing shows, so anyone who is just playing music to sell yourselves, make money, or just trying to get BIG or whatever then this project is probably not for you. This is not to say I don't want to take this somewhere eventually, but I'm really just looking for people who are in it for the right reasons and just want to make good music.

Anyway some of my influences include Minus the Bear, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Mars Volta, Modest Mouse, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, At the Drive-in, Smashing Pumpkins, Portugal the Man, Deftones, The Cure, Thievery Corporation, Government Mule, Sound Tribe Sector 9, The strokes, Jimi Hendrix, the Doors, and the list goes on. I'm open to tons of new styles of music and am pretty open minded. So if your looking to experiment, make something new, and just have some fun hit me up.

Piano/keyboard player looking... (jazz, hip-hop, soul...) (Tampa area)

First, I’ll give you a little info about me. I am a 25-year-old keys player with a music degree and hundreds of gigs under my belt. Past projects include:

- tons of jazz gigs (weddings/receptions, corporate functions, bars/restaurants, private parties, etc)
- original hip-hop bands (opened for Immortal Technique and Big Pooh of Little Brother)
- soul/funk/r&b cover band (played over 50 shows in the past year with this band)
- some other interesting stuff (Ween cover band, rock groups, etc)

I am moving to Tampa in Jan/Feb and would like to make some useful contacts ahead of time if possible. I’d be happy to provide links to music/videos upon request. Please send any replies to the Craigslist email above.

Ideally, I would like to play:

HIP-HOP/SOUL/FUNK – would like to start/join an original project with an MC + vocalists and a full band, with a focus on live performances

JAZZ – solo piano, accompany a singer, trio/combo, big band

I would also consider any other interesting projects, especially in the realm of jazz/funk/soul/r&b/rock/jam/etc...NO Metal, Screamo, or anything that ends in -core. No offense, that's just not my kind of music.

With that said, I know Craigslist can be an…interesting…place to try to find quality musicians, but I know that you guys are out there! Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing from you.

I have a wide vocal range and good look/personality for a frontman. I was raised around classic rock bands since I was young and with my own generation's influences I have made my own unique, but catchy music style. I can sing anything from pop rock, blues, classical, alternative, to hip hop and I am very good at all of them. I am not cocky or big headed and I am all for constructive criticism. I just want the opportunity to show the world what I can do. So anybody with big dreams, a big heart, and a want to break the mold can contact me. I look forward to serious inquiries.

Gigging Band lookin' for pro keys man with great gear, transportation, and no bad habits or big egos. We play as a team and have alot of fun doin' it. We play country, country rock, southern rock and some standard dance/rock covers. Also do original music off our CD. We're approaching the high end market, not your typical bar gig, though we take 'em if they pay. Booking thru Gigmasters and 4-5 different booking agents in the area. Some in state travel is definitely in the future, but all members are reimbursed for expenses. We have a great frontman/ lead vocalist but need some help with backups and an occasional lead vocal from you. If you think you have what we're looking for please contact us with sound bytes, pics, bio, myspace site or whatever you have. The band will be 7 pieces with you onboard. We have a roadie and sound engineer for all our gigs!! Our idea is: we'd rather play 4 gigs a month getting $200-300/man then 8-12 gigs at $100/man. Been there done that! Thanks for looking and contact us ASAP.

About Johnny Cakes and The Four Horsemen of The Apocalypso

Creative Loafing's WMNF's Tropical Heatwave write up: Johnny Cakes & The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypso; After 1 am it takes a special
band to get people on their feet and dancing. Playing as the last band at New World Brewery, Johnny Cakes & The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypso
literally brought the house down with their fresh take on ska. Equal parts punk, rock steady and mischief, this band is worth catching and since they
hail from St. Pete, it shouldn’t be hard to do!

TBT: Johnny Cakes and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypso: The name’s a mouthful, but the gutteral, metal-tinged ska is
packed pretty tightly on their seven-track CD Rude Girl. Led by Cakes (a.k.a. Michael Middlebrooks, a.k.a. “Ostrich”), the high-energy octet won
a contest sponsored by Tijuana Flats; their song Long Island Iced Tea Island will be playing on the restaurant’s Web site this August. The group
is rounded out by Mikey Imperiale (guitar), Josh Burke (bass), Mike Polojac (drums), Dane Skelton (tenor sax), Jon Van Vuren (trombone), Ben
Datin (trumpet) and Ricky Peterika (alto sax).

The Orlando Punk and Indie Music Examiner @ examiner.com:Next up was Johnny Cakes & The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypso (St. Pete, FL).
This 7-piece band came on like gangbusters from the beginning, and maintained a buoyant intensity with a healthy dose of humor
in the lyrics. The horn section consisted of a trumpet, alto sax and a trombone. Filling out the rest of the band was a drummer, bassist,
guitarist, along with a vocalist playing a steelpan. The vocalist had a style in the vein of Dickie Barrett from The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and
the ultra-tight horn section’s style added to that comparison. I also detected some Voodoo Glow Skulls influence. The band’s performance was
very uplifting, and the inclusion of the steelpan gave their sound a slight “island” vibe. My friend, Stevie, swore up and down that they
covered Operation Ivy's "Bad Town" - good call. It was a great set that put a smile on everyone’s face, and even made me laugh a few times with the lyrical wit.

Gabriel Loewenberg, tbt*:Tampa’s Johnny Cakes and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypso have been delivering a healthy dose of fun and great tunes
to Tampa Bay since 2006. Led by growly-voiced vocalist and steel drummer Michael "Ostrich" Middlebrooks, they've had a big summer. They played two, count 'em TWO,
shows at Tropical Heatwave this year. And they recently won a contest to have their song Long Island Iced Tea Island featured on the Tijuana Flats home page.
Johnny what now? Tampa’s Johnny Cakes and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypso have been delivering a healthy dose of fun and great tunes to
Tampa Bay since 2006. They got their start in Jacksonville a year earlier, existing as a side project for the original members; main bands, but the
move to Tampa took the band to front-burner status. Their sound: Johnny Cakes plays an infectious mix of third-wave ska, punk, rock steady,
calypso and just about everything in between. The band self describe themselves as “gutter calypso”, which one can take to mean just
about anything. Regardless of what label you try to pin on them, this band wants more than anything to have a good time.
The lineup: Johnny Cakes has had as little as five and at most twelve members. The current nine-person line up is Michael “Ostrich”
Middlebrooks, vocals, steel drum; Roy Kielich, guitar; Josh Burke, bass; Mike Polojac, drums; James Griffin, congas, percussion; Ben Datin,
trumpet; Ricky Peterika, saxophone; Jon Van Vuren, bass trombone and Drew Smith, trombone. They range in age from 20 to 42. Middlebrooks gave us the
lowdown on the band. The name: There really isn’t an epic story behind the epic name. Mike says he was on vacation on in the Caribbean, and while eating at a restaurant,
saw something on the menu called “Johnny Cakes.” He thought that would make a good band name but was too short, so the rest was tacked on the end.
Zombies, dancers and chainsaws: Just about anyone in a band will tell you that having fun comes first and foremost. Johnny Cakes is no exception. In
addition to the boundless energy of their songs, the band is sometimes joined onstage by the Johnny Cakes Jellyfish Dancers (you’ll have to see
their MySpace page for pictures to fully understand). The high-energy music and interpretive dance only leads to more shenanigans. At one show,
during the song Super Black Death Cloud (which is about fighting zombies with chainsaws), to the surprise of the band, the venue and the concert-
goers, sax player Peterika pulled out a real chainsaw and starting running around the club. It’s business time: In order to have as much fun as they do, Johnny Cakes
has to be a hard-working band. They recently won a contest to have their song Long Island Iced Tea Island featured on theTijuana Flats Web site. At
this year’s Tropical Heatwave, they played twice (at the Cuban Club and New World Brewery) in brutally hot, humid and rainy conditions. To top off
a busy year, the band’s first full length CD, Rise Of The Pink Flamingos, will be out in October.

Tampa Live Music Examiner, Jessica Kemper: Bad puns aside, Johnny Cakes And The Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypso
truly appears to be a band on the rise. The St. Petersburg-based act, who combines an upbeat mix of genres with a wicked sense of humor,
have built up a successful following in the Tampa Bay area, with performances at venues such as Crowbar and Skipper's Smokehouse. However,
it seems their breakthrough came with this year's double performances at WMNF's Tropical Heatwave. The band was chosen as a runner-up for the
reader's poll Best Local Reggae/Ska band,on Creative Loafing''s Best of the Bay list this year, and were listed in tbt's Ultimate Band Guide.

"Rise of The Pink Flamingos" CD Review By Scotty Badfish If Harry Belafonte and the Bosstones were to have an illicit lovechild,
except the resulting birth came out as a flesh-eating zombie with a boner, then you kind of get the idea of what Johnny Cakes and the Four Horsemen
of the Apocalypso’s debut album, ‘The Rise of the Pink Flamingos,’ is all about.
Much like their live show, ‘Pink Flamingos’ is a loud, fun and horny adventure that explores the band’s inebriated infatuation with donkeys,
zombies and performing lewd acts on Barbara Bush – all predicated on the notion that an army of bloodthirsty flamingos hopped up on mutant shrimp
will soon overthrow the civilized world. This after all, is a South Florida ska band with enough members to field
an entire baseball team that have animated alter egos with an affection for marmalade and a cadre of dancers wielding jellyfish-shaped umbrellas.
The album kicks off with the steel-drum-heavy track ‘Swimming in the Summer,’ a tropical tongue twister which sets the tone for the rest of the
album. That tone of being akin to lying in a hammock on a Caribbean beach while whacked out on PCP and tequila.
"We had a really fun time recording the album," said lead singer Michael "Ostrich" Middlebrooks, "and I think that will be evident to anyone who
listens to the album." From there, ‘Flamingos’ features two tracks, ‘The Donkey Song’ and ‘Commando,’ that allow the rhythm section, particularly the well-populated
horn section, to shine and remind audiences that despite the lyrical content, the band is more than a series of fart jokes. "We try to make good music without taking
ourselves too seriously" said Middlebrooks. Other highlights of the album include ‘Super Black Death Cloud,’ a dark, night-of-the-living-dead epic that slowly builds
from a fluted intro into a full-out, chainsaw-wielding thrash-skanking and a moonstomp-inducing cover of the calypso classic ‘Jump in the Line.’

All songs were recorded at Audio Impact Studios in Clearwater, Fl.

We are a metal band, not neccesarily decided on a genre just yet, we've been an original band for about 6 months, gone through 3 different singers, so if your a pothead/druggie who can't show up to a simple weekly practice, don't bother!

We're all between 18-21, don't smoke, don't drink, but we won't shun you if you do, as long as you don't bring it to practice/shows.

We've got 5 original songs, so if you have some samples of your singing, hit me up, and I can send you some samples of our songs and then we can see where it goes from there.

Thanks
