Job Summary:
-- Persystent Software, makers of the world’s fastest PC auto-repair and recovery software, is looking for an experienced Windows software engineer ( C++ / C# ) to complement our busy software development team. This is a wonderful commercial product development opportunity in beautiful Tampa Florida at a venture backed software company experiencing rapid growth into multi-product and international opportunities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-- Candidates MUST have a minimum of 10 years of full life cycle development experience in a commercial software development environment; with 8-10 years experience in C++ and at least 2-3 years experience in C# applications development (including years of training)
-- Must be able to work independently on difficult assignments that are broad in nature requiring some originality and ingenuity
-- Must be able to constructively challenge, improve, and create new product architecture, product direction initiatives, and integration projects with other engineering teams or partners
Skills, Abilities and Knowledge:
Skills in:
-- Working understanding of Windows operating systems’ internals, with a particular focus on Windows File Systems, Registry, Security, and Windows Pre-boot Environments (WinPE).
-- Advanced operating systems, including Microsoft Vista/Windows 7, Microsoft Server 2008, and SQL Server 2008 is preferred
Ability to:
-- Prototype and implement highly efficient software solutions
-- Define and recommend technical strategies and initiatives/projects
-- Perform design reviews for others in design group
-- Able to accurately predict amount of effort required to achieve any assigned task
-- Must have the ability to absorb large amounts of information in order to determine the “big picture”, and to make technical decisions in a timely manner
-- Must be self-motivated and able to control own work priorities, and develop plans and project schedules
-- Ability to create solutions in response to competitive or partner pressures
-- Must be able to lead the work of others
-- Must be able to participate in multiple development efforts at the same time
-- Attend meetings with customers and partners to understand how designs affect the current product use, and to effectively communicate potential product futures (and receive feedback)
-- Capable of delivering presentations and authoring technical white papers
Knowledge of:
-- PC client operations in a commercial network LAN/WAN. Network certifications not required, but working knowledge of applications running on commercial networks is highly recommended
-- Constructing technical strategies and accurately documenting all designs and implementations
-- Contributing to overall system architecture and product direction
-- Working with Product Management team to identify trends, recommend technical strategies and initiatives/projects and requirements for future technical product direction
-- Using teamwork skills to interact with peers and compare alternative approaches to software engineering technical issues and technical strategic direction
Educational Requirements and Other Information:
-- Bachelors or Masters degree required in Computer Science or Engineering, or related field or equivalent combination of technical training and experience
-- Position may infrequently require work outside of normal business hours
